H ashem created the world
with love and kindness.
He created us in His divine image
and made us His partners in this world
to perfect it through love and compassion.
To love G-d and to love other people is the same thing.
Your love of G-d has to bring more love to others.
And essentially it goes even deeper than that.
When you love G-d you will love other people more. .
And that's the whole point of it..
This is what Ani L'dodi is about:
our relationship with Hashem, and the world.
(overview of the songs..)
אני לדודי Ani L'dodi V'dodi Li - I am to my beloved and my beloved is to me
is a verse from Shir Hashirim, songs of songs, written by King Solomon.
Everyday Hashem calls out to us, "Return my children, return."
אל באפך תוכחיני Al B'apcha Tochicheini - even though pain and challenges make us grow we ask Hashem please, teach us through love. Hashem, please return to us.
ה' אורי Hashem Ori - "Only one thing I asked of Hashem this I seek. May I dwell in the house of Hashem all days of my life, to behold the pleasantness of Hashem and to visit in His sanctuary." (King David's psalm 27)
ראו עתה Reuh Ata - Realize that G-d is one. It all comes from Hashem and it is good.
מי שאהב Mi Sheohav - He who loved the fathers should love the children. He who blessed the fathers should bless the children. This song goes through all the hebrew letters requesting from Hashem to show us His love.
השלך על ה' יהבך Hashleich Al Hashem Yihavcha - Throw your burden onto Hashem. He takes care of you.
'חננו ה Chaneinu Hashem - Our eyes look up to you Hashem until You will answer us. Even though we might not be deserving, Hashem, please grant us.
כי לך Ki Lecha - For in you Hashem I hope, you will answer me Hashem, my G-d.
G-d gives us the opportunity to Return.
We can always return to pristine beginnings,
renew our relationship, and
reconnect to the source of life.
May we reunite with our lover, Hashem, very soon.
"Flee my beloved and liken yourself to a gazelle or to a young hart upon mountains of spices." (Shir Hashirim 8:14)"
Flee my beloved to hasten the Redemption, and rest your Divine Presence upon mountains of spices This is a reference to Mt. Moriah and the Holy Temple (Rashi); May it soon be built in our days. Amen!
